Birmingham Against the Cuts Planning Meeting December 6th 7.30pm
December 1, 2010
Birmingham Against the Cuts
December 6th 7.30
Council House, Victoria Square B1 1BB
A meeting about the coordination of anti-cuts activity in Birmingham took place on November 17th . It was attended by representatives from the Trades Union Council, a number of union offices and branches, some Labour Party organisations, the Green Party, Respect and the existing organisations Right to Work and Peoples’ Charter.
It was agreed to establish a coordinating organisation to be called Birmingham Against the Cuts around the basic demand of “No cuts in jobs or services in Birmingham”.
It is anticipated that this body can play a key role in gaining support for lobbies of the council meetings in the budget fixing period, mobilisation for the March 26th demonstration in London, and organising a Mayday event in Birmingham.
A further meeting to develop more detail will be held on the evening of December 6th at 7.30 in the Council House.
Plans for the lobby of the council meeting on December 7th will also be discussed.
Individuals and representatives from organisations are invited to attend.
